Jacob Mitchell asked me if it was possible to provide a calendar on the forum to record trips and events. I found that the forum does have a built-in calendar system which just needs turning on and configuring. Jacob did some evaluation on the test system and decided it worked OK and so I have enabled it today. (a big thank you for expressing the need and testing!)
You will notice an extra button on the home page to invoke the calendar and also a summary of the forthcoming events in the calendar at the end of the main forum list.
For registered members there is an option to post a new event, and this allows you to add an entry in the calendar and put details on the associated forum board.
The default board for UCET members is the UCET private 'Trips & Events',but they can switch to the public 'Trips and Events' if needed. Ordinary registered users will only be able to use the the public 'Trips and Events' board.
Please note that the board used for posting can be changed to any of the permitted boards - It chooses the first one in the set which happens to be 'Trips and Events' by a happy coincidence. Only UCET members can post in the private boards.
It is possible to retrospectively add entries to the calendar for existing trips using the 'link to calendar' option now displayed at the bottom of the each thread - this should be done by the person who created the thread.
Calendar entries can only be modified by the person who created them or an admin user.
I will add the current events to the new calendar so you can see them. In future, members should use the 'post event' option in the calendar to add trips.

One problem I do note is the forum time is set to be a 12 hour clock. I will try and change it to a 24 hour clock later today (when is see what happens in the test forum!). The other issue is timezone's and switch from BST to GMT - Grrr
*** Forum now changed to 24 hour time format. Will switch timezone to GMT at end of British Summer Time ***
